50th Anniversary Celebrations
*** 50th Anniversary Celebrations ***
Today our school community partook in a wonderful 50th anniversary celebration of St Joseph’s P.S. on its present site.
The day began with a beautiful Mass in St Joseph’s Church conducted by Father Peter. Our current pupils were heavily involved in the service as they provided the choir and did the Prayers of the Faithful.
Following the Mass a large gathering of people congregated in our school for tea and refreshments. Our amazing ‘Down Through the Decades’ material was out on show and those in attendance were enthralled by the vast amount of historical memorabilia on display.
A special 50th anniversary cake was cut and 50 balloons were released to mark the occasion.
A huge thanks goes to all the staff at the school for their organisation of the day under the stewardship of our Principal Mrs Macfarlane. Thanks also goes to our pupils for their efforts in the chapel. It was great to see so many past pupils and staff members in attendance along with members of the community in Killough.
Over the next few months the majority of our historical items will be put on our Facebook page and website. Also keep an eye out in the Irish News this week along with the local press for coverage of today’s event.
Today really did cement the strength of St Joseph’s P.S. in our community. Thank you to all.
