At Blackwater IC we are very proud of the fact that we cater for students of all abilities. We have provision for students with SEN at Key Stage 3 in our Learning Support Centre (Unit). This unit is primarily for students with MLD but caters for a very wide range of learning needs. Provision at KS4 continues with students following a specialist Vocational Program which includes some GCSE courses, and in specific circumstances, there may be an opportunity to complete a full range of GCSE subjects, dependent on outcomes of consultation at Annual Review meetings.
We are very keen to work with local primary schools to ease and support the transition of students who may avail of this facility. We usually hold a Learning Support Centre Open Day event, but due to COVID restrictions we have been unable to organise this event for this academic year. We are, however, more than happy to speak with prospective parents and students, Mr Taylor (Principal) or Mrs Mallon (SENCo) will be able to answer any questions parents may have regarding provision.
I would be very grateful if you could pass on this information to any parents or students who may be interested. Packs for parents have been sent out in the post to Primary School SENCo’s.
